How Tesela AI handles your data
When you ask Tesela AI to design a library, analyze an experiment, or search the literature, only the data you reference is sent to our AI providers — and only for the duration of that request. Here is what happens at each step:
You make a request
You ask Tesela AI a question or invoke an agent. Only the data relevant to your request is included in the prompt — never your full database.
Secure processing
Your request is sent over encrypted channels to a certified AI provider. The provider processes it in real time and returns a response. No data is stored or used for training.
Results delivered to you
The AI response is returned to the TeselaGen platform. Any data sent to the provider is purged per contractual retention policies. You retain full ownership of results.

Your data is never used to train AI models
We access large language models exclusively through enterprise API agreements that contractually prohibit the use of customer data for model training or improvement. Your proprietary sequences, experimental results, and research data remain yours alone.
Minimal data retention by design
Prompts and responses sent to AI providers are processed in real time and not stored beyond the brief window required to generate a response. Our provider agreements enforce strict data retention limits, and we offer zero-data-retention configurations for qualifying enterprise customers.
Encrypted in transit and at rest
All communication between TeselaGen and AI services is encrypted using TLS. Data at rest within the TeselaGen platform is encrypted using AES-256. Your research data is protected at every stage of the pipeline.
SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certified providers
We exclusively partner with AI providers that hold SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certifications. These independent audits verify that our providers meet rigorous security, availability, and confidentiality standards.
HIPAA-ready infrastructure

No third-party data sharing
Your data is sent only to the AI provider needed to process your request and is not shared with any other third party. We do not aggregate, anonymize, or repurpose customer data for any purpose beyond delivering the service you requested.

Frequently asked questions
Does Tesela AI see all the data in my LIMS?
No. Tesela AI only accesses the specific data you reference in your conversation — the sequences, experiments, or records you ask it to work with. It does not have blanket access to your entire database. All access respects the same role-based permissions as the rest of the TeselaGen platform.
Can I opt out of AI features entirely?
Yes. Tesela AI is an opt-in feature. Your team can use the full TeselaGen platform without enabling AI capabilities. No data is sent to AI providers unless your users actively invoke AI features.
Where is AI inference performed?
AI inference runs in secure, SOC 2 certified data centers in the United States. For customers with geographic data residency requirements, contact us to discuss available configurations.
How do you evaluate and select AI providers?
We evaluate providers on security certifications (SOC 2, ISO 27001), data handling policies (no-training guarantees, retention limits), enterprise agreement terms (BAA availability, zero-data-retention options), and model performance for scientific applications.
What happens if I delete data from TeselaGen?
When you delete data from the TeselaGen platform, it is permanently removed from our systems. Any data previously sent to AI providers during processing has already been purged per their retention policies — it is not stored, indexed, or retrievable.
